At Grow Training we are proud providers of IOSH training courses, created by leading UK health and safety organisation, IOSH.
IOSH training is incredibly valuable for workers, managers, and leaders in a broad spectrum of industries – but what is it exactly?

Some background IOSH information
Before we jump into discussing the ins and outs of IOSH training, you might be wondering what IOSH actually is.
What does IOSH stand for?
IOSH stands for the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.
When it was founded in 1945, they were originally called the Institution of Industrial Safety Officers (IISO), which was a division of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). In 1981, it became IOSH.
Where are IOSH based?
IOSH are based in Leicestershire, England.
Whilst they only operate in the UK, they have 46,000 members in over 120 countries, making them the world’s largest professional health and safety membership scheme.
What does IOSH do?
IOSH is a not-for-profit organisation that seeks to regulate health and safety in the workplace. They work to set expectations, establish standardised rules and regulations, and promote good practice through a variety of IOSH training courses.
They live by their motto, “a safe and healthy world of work” in everything that they do.
Essentially, they are a global voice for emphasising the importance of health and safety, campaigning for key health and safety matters and lobbying for changes in the law.

What is IOSH training?
IOSH training is solely focused around health and safety. The courses have been specially designed and developed to equip students with tools to carry with them to ensure their place of work is a safer environment, with reduced absenteeism and increased productivity.
Specifically, IOSH training aims to guide students in how to identify hazards posed in the workplace, how to define and assess various risks, and how to boost adherence to health and safety policies amongst their fellow workers.
IOSH training is assessed with practical and written assessments, thoroughly testing the knowledge the students have gained through the course. The format of teaching is geared to boost engagement, combining traditional classroom learning and interactive activities.
Every year, 100,000 people successfully pass their IOSH training and gain a qualification.
What IOSH training courses are on offer?
IOSH have a vast range of training courses which cater to different industries and different status levels within companies.
Perhaps the most popular amongst them, and the two which Grow Training offer, are IOSH Managing Safely and IOSH Working Safely.
These are all-encompassing courses aimed at managers and ordinary employees respectively.
Grow Training also offer a IOSH Managing Safely Refresher for those needing to brush up their skills some time after successfully gaining their IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
Does IOSH deliver the training?
IOSH training is delivered by licensed training providers who work independently from IOSH.
Grow Training has been licensed by IOSH to deliver these two courses, given our expertise in health and safety training and their wealth of experience.
IOSH is selective about who delivers IOSH training so they can be confident that the content is being communicated properly.
